More About Us
Situation Room Nigeria is a coalition of civil society organizations dedicated to improving Nigeria’s electoral process. Its main goal is to ensure elections are free, fair, and credible. To achieve this, the coalition monitors the entire electoral process, from preparations to voting and post-election activities. They deploy observers across the country to report any irregularities or issues during elections. These observations are compiled into reports that provide real-time updates and analyses, which are shared with the public and relevant authorities.
The coalition also advocates for electoral reforms and works to increase transparency in the electoral system. They engage with various stakeholders, including the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, political parties, and the media, to address challenges and improve the electoral process. By educating citizens about their voting rights and the importance of participating in elections, Situation Room Nigeria encourages greater voter engagement.
Comprising over 70 organizations focused on democracy, governance, and human rights, the coalition is managed by a steering committee that coordinates its activities. Situation Room Nigeria has significantly contributed to enhancing the credibility of elections in the country. Their efforts include monitoring the 2023 general elections and continuing to advocate for necessary electoral reforms. Through their website and active social media presence, they provide resources, updates, and engage with the public, aiming to ensure that Nigeria's elections are conducted transparently and fairly.
