The Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room (Situation Room) hereby issues this disclaimer to inform the public of an invitation issued by an unknown organisation claiming the name Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room. The organisation has issued an invitation posturing itself as the Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room and inviting journalists and the public to attend a press briefing, as well as an advocacy march scheduled for June 18, 2025, and subsequent dates. The public is hereby notified that this organisation is not connected to the Situation Room.
This unknown group of persons is latching onto the authentic Situation Room to mislead the public and give itself credibility that it has not earned. Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room has existed for more than 15 years and is not a singular organisation but a platform of more than 70 independent NGOs working to promote electoral accountability and good governance in Nigeria.
We urge the public, media organizations, and all stakeholders to exercise caution and verify the authenticity of any communication claiming to originate from the Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room. Official communications from our organization are issued through verified channels, including our official website (www.situationroomng.org) and verified social media handles (@SituationRoom on Facebook, SituationRoomNg on X, Instagram and on YouTube).
