The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Thursday, 31st January 2019, published the final list of candidates for the Governorship and State Assembly Elections, scheduled to hold Saturday, 2nd March 2019. The published list was signed by the Electoral body’s Secretary, Rose Oriaran-Anthony.
The list for the Governorship poll has names of the Governorship and deputy governorship candidates as well as their political party, age, gender and qualification. A total of 1,066 (One thousand and sixty-six) governorship candidates will contest. Imo state has the highest number of governorship candidates – 70 (Seventy), while Yobe has the lowest – 13 (Thirteen).
Governorship Elections will hold in 29 States, while there will be no elections in seven States. The seven States are: Anambra, Bayelsa, Edo, Ekiti, Kogi, Ondo and Osun.
For the State Assembly Elections, a total of 14, 583 (Fourteen thousand, five hundred and eighty-three) candidates were cleared by INEC to contest.
