The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu hosted an Interactive Session with Situation Room ahead of the Edo and Ondo Governorship elections on Monday, August 31, 2020. Some of the issues discussed include the misinformation and disinformation within public space, the use of inciting statements by political actors, and the high likelihood of violence in the upcoming elections. Furthermore, the welfare of Police officers and their training in line with COVID-19 guidelines was also discussed. Other issues considered include the security of election observers and the Nigeria Police’s deployment strategy to achieve a free and fair election.
