The Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room (Situation Room) held a Dialogue Session with Osun State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mr. Olusegun Agbaje, on Wednesday, July 16th 2014 at New Chelsea Hotel, Plot 123, Cadastral Zone A0, Central Business Area, Abuja, on INECs preparations ahead of the Osun State Governorship Election scheduled for August 9 2014.
The dialogue session presented an opportunity for Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) preparing to observe the Osun Governorship Election to interact extensively with the REC as well as to address some of the issues that may arise during Election Day observation. Previous Situation Room dialogue sessions were conducted with the Anambra State REC and the Ekiti State REC prior to the respective State Governorship elections. Therefore, the purpose of the dialogue session was to provide this same level of interaction with the Osun State REC and for INEC Osun State to meet with some of the CSOs that will be on the field to observe the election and deliver its message on its expectation of, and coordination with civil society during the election.
