Acting CJN inaugurates Election Petition Tribunal

In the thick of criticisms of his apparently unconstitutional appointment, Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Ibrahim Muhammad Tanko swore in judges for the Election Petition Tribunals set up to adjudicate petitions arising from the 2019 General Elections. The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Supreme Court Complex. Justice Tanko enjoined the judges to discharge their duty diligently, as well as, protect and uphold the integrity of the Judiciary.

Following the inauguration, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the National Judicial Institute (NJI) conducted a 2-day training for the Judges at the NJI, Mohammed Bello Centre, Abuja on 28th and 29th January 2019.
