Presidential Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the just concluded election, Atiku Abubakar filed a petition at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal on Monday, 18th March 2019, seeking to be declared winner of the election or that the election be nullified and a fresh one conducted. The election is being challenged on the grounds of malpractices, non-compliance with the electoral laws and allegations of massive rigging. The Tribunal has recently granted an order sought by President Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC) for INEC to make accessible, election materials used for the conduct of the Presidential election, to obtain Certified copies of the materials, and also to make photocopies. The request, according to the defendants, is to enable them prepare their defence adequately.
