On Thursday, 28th March 2019, the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja dismissed an appeal by the Ekiti State Governorship Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Olusola Kolapo, challenging the decision of the Ekiti State Election Petition Tribunal, which upheld the emergence of Kayode Fayemi as Governor of the State. The appeal was dismissed for lacking in merit. The Election Tribunal had dismissed the petition brought by PDP and its candidate alleging massive rigging of the election and challenging Fayemi’s victory, on the basis that the petitioners failed to prove the allegations contained in the petition.
