DSS hounds Premium Times over leaked Memo

A memo exposing a feud between President Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari and the National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno, which was published in an online media platform, Premium Times has led to the Department for State Services (DSS) seeking the arrest of the on-line publication’s reporter, Samuel Ogundipe. According to Premium Times, Ogundipe has been forced into hiding, following alleged threats from the agency, a siege to his residence and attempts to hack into his social media and email accounts. Meanwhile, operatives of the DSS were also reported to have attempted to enter the residence of the Premium Times Editor-in-Chief, Musikilu Mojeed, in the guise of delivering a message to him. The DSS has however denied being on the trail of the reporter or other staff of Premium Times. According to DSS Spokesperson, Peter Afunanya, “There is no such operation at the moment by the Service targeted at the Premium Times, its Editor or staff. Therefore, the report should be disregarded. It is fake news”. This is not the first time that Ogundipe is being sought for in connection with news reports relating to the activities of the Federal Government. In August 2018, Mr. Ogundipe was arrested for refusing to disclose his sources for a story indicting a former Director General of the DSS in the siege laid to the National Assembly.
