EFCC, ICPC to monitor Vote Buying in Kogi and Bayelsa

Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu expressed the Commission’s intention to collaborate with anti-graft agencies to tackle vote buying during the forthcoming governorship elections in Kogi and Bayelsa States. Prof. Yakubu stated this at the Consultative meeting between INEC and political parties, which took place in Abuja on Tuesday, 29th October 2019, drawing attention to the success recorded by the EFCC in securing the conviction of a vote buyer in Gombe State. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) are expected to monitor the movement of cash during political party campaigns and on election day in Kogi and Bayelsa States.
