The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) conducted supplementary elections in Kogi West Senatorial District and Ajaokuta Federal Constituency of Kogi State on Saturday, 30th November 2019. The Returning Officer, Prof. Olaide Lawal declared Smart Adeyemi of the All Progressives Congress (APC) winner of the election. He scored 88,373 votes while his closest rival, Dino Melaye of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) scored 62,133 votes. The supplementary election in Kogi West followed the declaration of the re-run election held in the area on 16th November 2019 as inconclusive. In Ajaokuta Federal Constituency, INEC declared Idirisu Lawal of the All progressives Congress (APC) winner of the election conducted in the area. He scored a total of 13,738 votes to defeat his closest rival, Aloysius Okino of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who scored 9,176 votes.
The Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room deployed over 20 observers to observe the conduct of the supplementary polls. It noted that incidents of violence were significantly reduced compared to the elections conducted on 16th November 2019. Situation Room observed early commencement of polls across the affected polling units, as well as the presence and professional conduct of security personnel at the polling units. However, low voter turnout and incidents of vote trading were also observed.
