Between the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the various Courts of Nigeria, the people’s mandate and vote of who should represent them appears to have become a ping pong game. Certificates of Return issued from the elections are being withdrawn and new ones issued to contending candidates. INEC explains that the withdrawal and issuance of new Certificates of Return to contending candidates is as a result of Court orders. Providing further details at the Forum on Media Coverage of the 2019 General Elections held in Enugu State on Monday, 20th May 2019, INEC National Commissioner and Chairman for Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye stated that twenty Certificates of Return were withdrawn from members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and issued to other members of the party, while two were withdrawn from members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and issued to other members of the party. The other three, withdrawn from members of the APC and PDP were issued to members of other political parties
