There are increasing reports emanating from several States of Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) being stolen. In Lagos State, where there are 1.5million uncollected PVCs, 2000 were confiscated from foreigners by the Nigeria Immigration Service in a recent occurrence. There was also another report of 2,045 PVCs alleged to have been stolen by hoodlums in Okobo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State according to Dr. Lecky Mustapha, the National Commissioner in charge of the State. Kogi State also reported that the Police apprehended a thug who was part of a group of thugs that invaded a Registration Area in Egume, Dekina Local Government Area of the State, as PVCs were being distributed. The Police recovered 55 PVCs from the said thug.
