STRUCTURE OF THE SITUATION ROOM

The Situation Room has a Convener, who is Dr Y.Z. Ya’u, the Executive Director of Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD); and also has two Co-Conveners – Mimidoo Achakpa, Executive Director of Women’s Rights to Education Programme (WREP) and Franklin Oloniju, Executive Director of Life and Peace Development Organization (LAPDO)
Membership of Situation Room cuts across a wide range of CSOs from the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria. Each member brings a particular asset to the Situation Room ranging from grassroots outreach/access, access to government, civic education, legislative advocacy, electoral reforms, social media and access to security structures/architecture.
Situation Room’s Secretariat is hosted by Policy and Legal Advocacy Centre (PLAC). The Secretariat provides programmatic and administrative support to the activities of the Situation Room.
Life And Peace Development Organization (LAPDO)

The Life And Peace Development Organization (LAPDO) is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting peacebuilding, community development, and humanitarian assistance in Nigeria. Established with a commitment to fostering peaceful coexistence and addressing socio-economic challenges, LAPDO operates through various initiatives aimed at improving livelihoods and fostering harmony within communities. At its core, LAPDO’s mission revolves around peacebuilding and conflict resolution, recognizing the critical importance of addressing the root causes of conflicts and promoting reconciliation within diverse communities. The organization implements peacebuilding programs that focus on dialogue, mediation, and community engagement to mitigate conflicts and promote understanding among different groups. Additionally, LAPDO is deeply engaged in community development initiatives aimed at enhancing socio-economic opportunities and improving the well-being of individuals and families. The organization implements projects related to education, healthcare, agriculture, livelihood support, and infrastructure development to uplift communities and reduce vulnerabilities. Humanitarian assistance forms an integral part of LAPDO’s activities. The organization provides relief and support to communities affected by crises, including natural disasters, displacement, and conflict situations. Through its humanitarian interventions, LAPDO offers vital aid, such as shelter, food, healthcare, and psychosocial support, to those in need. Furthermore, LAPDO places a strong emphasis on capacity building and empowerment programs for community members. By providing training, skills development, and entrepreneurship opportunities, the organization enables individuals to become self-reliant and actively participate in the development of their communities. LAPDO operates with a commitment to transparency, accountability, and inclusivity in its operations. The organization ensures that its activities, including financial transactions and project outcomes, are transparently communicated to stakeholders, fostering trust and credibility.
