STRUCTURE OF THE SITUATION ROOM

The Situation Room has a Convener, who is Dr Y.Z. Ya’u, the Executive Director of Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD); and also has two Co-Conveners – Mimidoo Achakpa, Executive Director of Women’s Rights to Education Programme (WREP) and Franklin Oloniju, Executive Director of Life and Peace Development Organization (LAPDO)
Membership of Situation Room cuts across a wide range of CSOs from the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria. Each member brings a particular asset to the Situation Room ranging from grassroots outreach/access, access to government, civic education, legislative advocacy, electoral reforms, social media and access to security structures/architecture.
Situation Room’s Secretariat is hosted by Policy and Legal Advocacy Centre (PLAC). The Secretariat provides programmatic and administrative support to the activities of the Situation Room.
Kimpact Development Initiative (KDI)

The Kimpact Development Initiative (KDI) is a non-profit organization committed to fostering sustainable development, good governance, and civic engagement in Nigeria. Founded on the principles of promoting participatory democracy and inclusive development, KDI operates through various initiatives aimed at empowering citizens and promoting effective governance practices. At its core, KDI’s mission revolves around promoting citizen participation in governance processes and advocating for policies that prioritize the needs and aspirations of the people. The organization believes in empowering citizens to actively engage with government institutions, hold leaders accountable, and contribute to shaping policies that address societal challenges. KDI implements a range of programs and projects focused on enhancing civic education, advocacy, and capacity building for citizens, particularly marginalized groups and youths. These initiatives aim to strengthen citizens’ understanding of their rights, responsibilities, and the democratic process, empowering them to actively participate in decision-making at local, state, and national levels. One of KDI’s primary objectives is to advocate for transparent, accountable, and responsive governance. The organization engages in policy research, advocacy campaigns, and collaborations with stakeholders to promote reforms that enhance transparency, accountability, and citizen-oriented governance practices. Furthermore, KDI utilizes technology and innovation to enhance its advocacy efforts and citizen engagement. Through digital platforms, data-driven advocacy, and social media campaigns, the organization reaches a wider audience, mobilizing citizens and fostering dialogue on issues related to governance and development. The initiative operates with a commitment to transparency and accountability, ensuring that its activities, finances, and outcomes are communicated openly to stakeholders, fostering trust and credibility.
