STRUCTURE OF THE SITUATION ROOM

The Situation Room has a Convener, who is Dr Y.Z. Ya’u, the Executive Director of Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD); and also has two Co-Conveners – Mimidoo Achakpa, Executive Director of Women’s Rights to Education Programme (WREP) and Franklin Oloniju, Executive Director of Life and Peace Development Organization (LAPDO)
Membership of Situation Room cuts across a wide range of CSOs from the six geopolitical zones of Nigeria. Each member brings a particular asset to the Situation Room ranging from grassroots outreach/access, access to government, civic education, legislative advocacy, electoral reforms, social media and access to security structures/architecture.
Situation Room’s Secretariat is hosted by Policy and Legal Advocacy Centre (PLAC). The Secretariat provides programmatic and administrative support to the activities of the Situation Room.
Centre for Citizens with Disabilities (CCD)

The Centre for Citizens with Disabilities (CCD) is a non-governmental organization committed to promoting the rights, inclusion, and welfare of persons with disabilities (PWDs) in Nigeria. Established with the aim of advocating for the rights of PWDs and fostering an inclusive society, CCD has been at the forefront of championing disability rights since its inception. At the heart of CCD’s mission is the belief that every person, regardless of their abilities or disabilities, deserves equal rights, opportunities, and access to resources. The organization works tirelessly to address societal barriers and advocate for policies that facilitate the full participation and integration of PWDs into all aspects of community life. CCD’s initiatives encompass a wide range of activities geared towards empowering individuals with disabilities. They provide support services, advocacy, and capacity-building programs that aim to enhance the economic, social, and political inclusion of PWDs. Through various projects, CCD promotes education, vocational training, healthcare access, and employment opportunities for people with disabilities. Advocacy lies at the core of CCD’s efforts. The organization actively engages with policymakers, government agencies, and relevant stakeholders to influence legislation and policies that protect the rights of PWDs. They strive to ensure that disability rights are not only recognized but also implemented effectively across all sectors of society. Furthermore, CCD plays a crucial role in raising awareness and sensitizing the public about disability issues. By organizing campaigns, workshops, and community outreach programs, they seek to challenge stereotypes, reduce stigma, and promote a more inclusive and accepting environment for people with disabilities. The organization’s commitment to accountability and transparency is evident in its operations. CCD maintains clear financial records and regularly communicates its activities, successes, and challenges to stakeholders, ensuring transparency in its dealings.
