The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that supplementary elections will hold in four Constituencies in Rivers State on Saturday, 13th April 2019, with a total number of 261,683 voters across 45 Registration Areas consisting of 467 Polling Units and 106 Voting Points. These State Constituencies are Gokana, Opobo/Nkoro, Ahoada West and Abua/Odua) The announcement followed a meeting of the Commission to review the conduct of the recently concluded Governorship election in Rivers State on Thursday, 4th April 2019. In a statement issued by INEC, it applauded political parties, election observers and other election stakeholders for their support in the conclusion of the election. One of the issues discussed at the meeting was the conduct of the 23rd February and 9th March elections in Imo North Senatorial District of Imo State, in furtherance to which a Committee was set up to look into allegations of misconduct in the elections and advise INEC on adherence to its procedures by its officials. The Committee’s report is expected by Wednesday, 10th April 2019.
