INEC TO DE-DUPLICATE VOTERS REGISTER

The Commission has disclosed that multiple registration had been uncovered and that the names of the culprits were compiled for prosecution.

So far, 63,981,460 voters names had been collated by the commission, although it was expected that at least, 65,000,000 voters might be recorded in the recently concluded voters registration exercise.

It is still concerned that the figure may need further scrutiny, to this end INEC has began a process of removing false and duplicated names from the register. The process known as DE-DUPLICATION, involves matching data obtained from one polling unit across a specific area or region.

The De-duplication process is powered by a software installed in INEC computer soft server capable of matching finger print and other data registration.

Already INEC residential commissioner in Imo State SELENA OKO has said that the commission has discovered more than 30,000 false registration in the state.
